Today is April 15th… 2020!

It wasn’t my time. I wasn’t ready. I was dressed for work but had an early appointment with my doctor. We sat together in the waiting room with two other couples when the doctor’s assistant called my name. I got up and followed her into the examination room. The glass window overlooked the train station and the hospital beyond. I sat on the examination bed while the young lady placed the rubber cuffs of the sphygmomanometer around my upper arm and inflated it with air. My arm felt numbed as the cuffs tightened with each pump. My blood oozed through the constricted veins with such pressure that it thumped against the cuffs as it escaped. The assistant’s eyebrows curled, which created lines between them and distorted her face as she looked at the stats on the monitor. She released and inflated the cuff twice before she left the room and came back with the doctor in tow.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“I am going to retake your blood pressure.” He put the cuff on my left arm. The look on his face confirmed that something was wrong.

“What is the matter?” I asked nervously.

“Your blood pressure is very high. I will have to admit you into the hospital today.”

“What?”

“Yes, we do not want to risk any complications. I will give you the paperwork and meet you at the hospital soon.” He walked out of the room.

We reluctantly but excitedly made our way to the hospital, into my room, and welcomed my princess, Ayana – beautiful flower and eternal blossom – into our reality.

Today is April, 15th which marks my daughter Ayana’s 10th birthday.

She finally made it to double-digit! I wish her a happy birthday. I pray that the creator will continue to guide her down the right path to being the leader she’s destined to become; and shower her with good morals, values, and understanding.

Please join me in wishing my daughter, Ayana, a Happy Birthday!

Please leave your comments below, she will read and respond.

Ok, I said it!

  1. Happyyyy Birthdayyyyyyy Nanaaaaaa!!!! I’ll call you! – Noah … Happy Birthday Nana. We love you. There is a purpose for your life which you have yet to fulfill, that is why God placed you in not only our lives but in our hearts as well. You are such an amazing and beautiful sister. You are resilient, intelligent and determined. You have taught me things in which I have used as a tool to raise Noah. I wish we were together but due to these circumstances, we aren’t but that won’t stop us from celebrating down the line. Noah and I miss you soooo much!!!!
