The grass is greener over there, where?

They say the grass is greener
On the other side,
Who made that accusation?
Who told such a lie?

I’ve been there
I know that it is not true,
‘Cause the further I got away from the side I was on
The greener it became too.

I had a family
Love and commitment
But, I was enticed
By another man’s attachments
He came with gifts, jewelry, and a car
He had a big house and a bank account I awed.

I left my family
Love and involvement
And joined up with this man
Oh boy, was it judgment.

Stimulants were available
Anytime I liked
Drinking and partying
We always fight.
I sat on the bed king size, the best
Thinking about the life I swapped for this mess.

I was trapped by fear
I got mistreated if I dear
To even thinking about leaving
This greener grass I presumed enjoying

I wanted my old life back.
I was much happier then
I schemed and put strategies on tarmac
To free myself from the burden
Of distrust, mistreatment, and confinement
A prisoner from following your advertisement.

They say that the grass is greener
On the other side,
You told me that mantra
You made me believe that lie.

Ok, I said it!
