Person #1 – “I am sorry,” he said as the dried leave danced across the square concrete as if on a dance floor. The broom cleared a path with each sweep. “Good morning,” he said.
I looked up from my phone at him. “Good morning,” I respond as I continued on.
Person#2 – “Hey!” What are you doing over here?” I looked across the street to see who could be addressing me as, Hey. It was my former neighbor. She move away sometimes in October. I had meant to call her to see how she was doing, but never did. I totally forgot…out of sight out of mind 🤔.
“How are you?” I asked still walking. “I am in a hurry and cannot stop. I will call you later.” I shout back to her. “Have a good day.” I hope I remember to call her.
Person#3 – He sat on the step of his house feeding the small birds that alit for their morning breakfast. “Good morning,” he said with a wide grin as his bandana hung below his chin like a red beard.
“Good morning. Enjoy the rest of your day.”
“You too,” he answered and threw a handful of crumbled bread to the diners. They fluttered with excitement and appreciation for the free food.
Person#4 – He sat in his barber’s chair facing the glass window looking out at the world as he waited for his next customer. He waved to me with a smile on his face. I waved back.
Person#5 – A puff of smoke emitted from his nostrils and mouth like a dragon that had just doused its flames. “Good morning, beautiful lady,” he said as he looked at me.
“Good morning,” I responded.
“Taxi?” he asked.
“No, thank you.”
“Okay beautiful, enjoy your day now.”
“You too,” I answered and kept on walking.
Two words, “good morning” can bring acknowledgment to others that you see them and that they do matter. Eye contact with sometimes a smile can create a positive energy or a positive vibes for the receiver. Be of good cheer and be kind to one another…. okisaidit.com
