Shadow me my shadow!

My shadow wasn't always with me
Defended my body like its property
I knew that it was my security.
It does what I do, we stay to ourselves
Until yesterday it disappeared at twelve.
 
It was a warm sunny day
I went to the backyard to play
My shadow and I; me and my shadow
It kept up with me like a side show
We played hide and go seek
Found it easy cause I knew its technique.
 
It was my turn to hide
So, my shadow stayed outside
I waited to be found
But my shadow was nowhere around
Probably acting like a clown
Watching me from the background.
 
My shadow wasn't always with me
When the lights turned off, it flees
It disappeared at noon
I saw it while watching a cartoon.
We sometimes are not in tune.
My shadow tricked me and leave.
