Once bitten!

Keisha and a coworker were ordering lunch from an Italian restaurant. She decided that she wanted a slice of white pizza. Carmen called the restaurant to place their orders, but they did not have any white pizza. Keisha was disappointed, and she selected the Chicken Parmesan from the lunch special instead and walked out of the room.

Keisha was hungry. Except for the cup of coffee that morning, she ate nothing else. Her belly expressed its frustration, and in the quiet room, one could hear it complained. I am hungry! Are you going to feed me or not? What is taking so long? Feed me!

Finally, the food arrived. It smelled delicious. Keisha went and washed her hands. When she returned, she opened the pizza box.

“Oh my gosh! They send it! I thought they said that they did not have anymore.” And she took up the slice of pizza and bit into the soft gooey texture and through the thin crunchy crust. “Mmm-mmm,” she mumbled while chewing as her craving satisfied. She savored the flavors as her belly accepted the nutrients in appreciation. Carmen and Sophie looked at her.

“What?” Keisha asked in defense of her ravenous eating behavior. “I am hungry!”

“Keisha, that was not your pizza. Remember, they did not have the white pizza you wanted, so you ordered that.” She pointed to the Chicken Parmesan.

Once Bitten

“Oh, no! I am so sorry.” Keisha placed the slice in the box and covered her mouth.  Her cheeks were blushed with embarrassment. “Let me go get another slice of pizza for you,” she said.

“It isn’t my pizza. You had left the room when Sophie ordered it,” Carmen remarked.

Keisha turned to Sophie, who was sitting at her desk, “I am so sorry. I will go and get another slice for you,” she insisted.

“No! It is okay,” Sophie answered.

“Please take the Chicken Parmesan sandwich.” Keisha handed the container to Sophie.

Sophie got up and took the pizza box instead. And with a serrated plastic knife, she sliced off the bitten section and took the first bite of her slice of pizza.

“Bon Appétit!” Sophie responded.

Have you ever been in a similar situation when you mistakenly eat someone’s food?

If yes, please share your story with me.

If no, and you were in Sophie’s position, how would you react/respond?

Please comment below. I would love to hear from you, yes you.
