I stood at the bus stop minding my own business when I heard a feminine voice, “What time is it?”
I looked up to see who was asking and to whom the question was projected. It was a young lady. Her face was sweaty as she stood looking frantically at the bus schedule sign.
“I’m sorry,” she said as our eyes met. “Do you have the time?”
I had to do a double-take because, in her hand, she held a cellphone. My phone was in my bag, so I proceeded to retrieve it.
“Oh, sh*&t! Don’t worry. I have my phone right here. I am so worried that I missed my bus. It is my first day at this job,” she said.
I told her that it was okay.
So, a number 5 bus pulled up and she proceeded to enter, but the driver told her, “This is the last stop for this bus.”
Back to the scheduler, she went to her phone to check the time again. You could definitely see that she was nervous. A man walked up to her, “The other 5 should be here shortly.” I guess he too was waiting for that bus.
My bus came and I left her pacing the walkway waiting on the other #5 bus.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!
Whenever you are going anywhere, leave an extra 15 minutes earlier. Give yourself enough time for any unforeseen delays.
